| A Detour Worth Taking. Story by: Matthew Solan
With miles of undeveloped beachfront and quite a nightlife, Delray Beach is enjoying well-deserved buzz among travelers in the know.
Ask locals what they like best about Delray Beach, and they sum it up like this: You can go anywhere in sandals and never feel out of place. Not that this Gold Coast town at the southernmost tip of Palm Beach County doesn’t have its glitzy side. But it’s refreshing to know you can venture from casual to highbrow without having to change outfits.
The best way to experience this oceanside city is to embark on a park-and-walk weekend. Make Atlantic Avenue, the city’s main vein of culture that stretches from Interstate 95 westward to the ocean, your home base. The street opens up to pedestrians on weekends, and you can easily explore everything within several blocks. |
